InSec unveils the backstory of the legendary Faker vs. Ryu outplay

Former KT Rolster Bullets Jungle InSec Reveals Story Behind Legendary Faker vs. Ryu Outplay

Choi “inSec” In-seo, the former jungle player for KT Rolster Bullets, recently shared the story behind the iconic outplay between Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and Ryu Sang-wook during the 2013 Korean OGN finals. InSec, renowned for his skills on Lee Sin, explained the memorable Zed vs. Zed duel that took place in the fifth game of the qualification series for the season three League of Legends world championship.

A Game-Changing Mid Lane Matchup

The mid lane matchup between SKT Telecom T1’s Faker and KT Rolster Bullets’ Ryu played a pivotal role in determining the winning team. InSec discussed this on his stream, highlighting the significance of this matchup in the championship series.

Ryu’s Bold Claim

During his stream, InSec brought up an important question: “Why didn’t I Shen ult Ryu?” He referred to Shen’s ultimate ability, Stand United, that shields a friendly target and teleports the champion to that player. InSec explained that Ryu confidently claimed victory, but ended up getting outplayed by Faker. InSec admitted that he was momentarily distracted by the outplay and didn’t use his ultimate to save Ryu.

While InSec could have potentially saved Ryu, it wouldn’t have made a significant impact on the game’s outcome. Ryu was killed by Faker shortly after, resulting in KT’s loss and their failure to qualify for the World Championship.

A Series to Remember

During that time in the OGN Korean league, the fifth game of a series was a blind pick. This led to several memorable moments, including the “wtf two shens” incident. This game ultimately contributed to Faker’s rise as the greatest player of all time and solidified SKT’s dominance in the League of Legends scene.

A Missed Opportunity for KT Rolster Bullets

If KT had won the best-of-five matchup against SKT that day, they would have qualified for the World Championship and been favorites to win it. Unfortunately, SKT emerged victorious, and KT narrowly missed their chance to compete for the Summoner’s Cup. KT Rolster Bullets disbanded shortly after, while Faker continued to excel in competitive play. Ryu transitioned into coaching and currently works with the North American organization 100 Thieves.
