In Week 9 of LCK Summer Split, Gen.G conquer Hanwha Life Esports

Gen.G Sweeps Hanwha Life Esports, Solidifying Third Place

In week nine of the LCK Summer Split, Gen.G dominated Hanwha Life Esports, securing their third place standing.

Both solo laners, Bdd and Rascal, received the Player of the Game awards for their outstanding performances on Akali and Renekton. Bdd, in particular, had an impressive showing with scores of 8/4/8 and 8/3/7 in the two games. He currently leads the POG standings, sitting 300 points ahead of second place.

The first game initially favored HLE, as they secured early leads across the map. However, their failure to capitalize on their advantage allowed Gen.G to make a comeback. In a 34-minute brawl, Bdd showcased his teamfight prowess and eliminated HLE members, ultimately leading Gen.G to victory.

In the second game, HLE made the same mistake by not adjusting their draft and giving away Akali once again. This decision proved detrimental as Gen.G quickly established substantial leads and dominated all lanes. Rather than playing cautiously, Gen.G opted for aggressive plays throughout the map, securing objectives and reaching Dragon Soul point at the 24-minute mark.

Despite HLE’s attempts to turn the tides, they were outmatched throughout the series. They had no chance against Gen.G and even faced defeat in a two-vs-five fight, resulting in the loss of the Nexus, the game, and the series.

Hanwha Life had a disappointing split, managing to secure only one win against a bottom-tier team. Despite making roster changes, they failed to improve their performance. As they head into the next split, it is unlikely that we will see the same lineup.

Gen.G has one remaining match against Afreeca Freecs on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 3am CT. Tune in to the official Riot Games LCK channel to see if Gen.G can end their split on a high note or if AFS will pull off an upset.
