Immortals Revealing Vulnerabilities

The Rise and Fall of Immortals in the NA LCS

Immortals, the North American League Championship Series team that had high hopes going into the Spring Split, fell short of expectations. While they dominated the competition during the regular season, they struggled in the playoffs and were swept by Team SoloMid. In the Summer Split, however, Immortals bounced back and demonstrated their dominance, adapting to the changing meta. But there are still some lingering issues with the team’s aggressive playstyle.

Huni’s Unconventional Style

Immortals’ top laner, Huni, plays a unique style that deviates from the standard tank champions typically seen in the top lane. He prefers engage and damage-dealing champions, which sets him apart from other top laners. Although he dies frequently, his aggressive playstyle often results in multiple kills before he goes down.

Team’s Reliance on Individual Skill

While Immortals excels individually, they struggle in teamfights and their team compositions are not built for cohesive play. This reliance on individual skill puts them at a disadvantage against stronger teams such as TSM, C9, and CLG. Despite their success in the regular season, their inability to adapt and draft strategy compositions with tanks and crowd control continues to hinder their performance.

The Future of Immortals

As Immortals prepare to face Cloud9 in the semifinals, it remains to be seen if they can adapt to the new meta and overcome their fundamental flaws. While they have talented players, their failure to function effectively as a team raises questions about the strength of the NA LCS heading into Worlds.

Immortals will need to prove that they can overcome their weaknesses and emerge as true contenders in the NA LCS. Only time will tell if they have what it takes to claim victory.
