Hwei set to become the inaugural LoL champion with 10 unique spells

Hwei, League of Legends’ New Champion, Has 10 Spells

Hwei, the recently revealed champion in League of Legends, will be the first to have a total of 10 different spells in his arsenal. This includes 11 spells if we count his passive ability.

What Makes Hwei Unique?

Unlike any other champion in the game, Hwei has three different “forms” that he can switch between. By dipping his paintbrush into his palette, he can access abilities belonging to three different categories: Disaster (Q), Serenity (W), and Torment (E).

Three Subjects, Three Abilities

When Hwei selects one of these subjects, he gains three new abilities. Disaster focuses on damage spells, Serenity deals with supportive abilities, and Torment provides CC-based moves.

Each of Hwei’s forms gives him an expanded ability set, which can be changed depending on the subject he is focusing on. Players will need to press Q, W, or E to select the type of ability they want to cast, and then press one of those buttons again to choose a specific ability from that subject.

For example, pressing Q twice will cast Devastating Fire, a fireball that travels in a straight line. Pressing Q and then W will cast Severing Bolt, a different AoE spell. After casting a spell, Hwei’s form resets to a neutral state, and the process repeats for each subject and individual ability.

Hwei’s passive ability, Signature of the Visionary, triggers when two damaging abilities interact, causing an explosion around the affected champion. His ultimate ability, Spiraling Despair, remains the same regardless of his chosen subject.

A Versatile Champion

Hwei can be seen as a three-in-one champion, capable of fulfilling various roles. Players can build him as a damage-focused AP Mage or use his abilities to support the team and hinder enemy players with CC.

Is Hwei Overloaded?

With so many abilities and interactions, some may argue that Hwei is overloaded. However, it’s important to see how the champion is balanced before making a final judgment.

Hwei is set to be released on live League servers during the Patch 13.24 cycle later this year.
