Fnatic’s Humanoid Opens Up About Challenges Ahead of Worlds 2022
Fnatic’s star mid laner Humanoid addressed the obstacles his team has faced leading up to the 2022 League of Legends World Championship. After a surprising loss to LOUD, Humanoid revealed the difficulties in practicing and preparing for the tournament.
Lack of Preparation Time
Teammate Upset had previously disclosed that the team had not scrimmaged before the start of Worlds. With the added setback of Upset and Hylissang testing positive for COVID-19 right before traveling to North America, Fnatic’s preparation time was severely affected.
Unfortunate Circumstances
Riot and Fnatic had to delay Upset and Hylissang’s flight to Mexico City, forcing Fnatic to scrimmage with substitute players. Despite the challenges, the team managed to secure a 3-1 record heading into the final day of play-in groups.
Challenges Ahead
While the substitute players performed well, Humanoid emphasized the importance of the full starting roster practicing together. If Fnatic advances past play-ins, they hope to have the opportunity to scrim as a complete team. Health-wise, the team is doing relatively well, aside from Hylissang who is still recovering.
Humanoid’s Confidence
Despite the hurdles faced, Humanoid believes that the challenges he has encountered over the past year have helped him become stronger and more reliable. He feels confident and ready to perform at his best in important moments, including at Worlds and playoffs.
In group A, Fnatic currently shares the top spot with Evil Geniuses. Humanoid praised Evil Geniuses’ mid laner Jojopyun as one of the strongest in the group, alongside himself. Fnatic will aim to secure first place as they face Beyond Gaming at 3pm CT.
