Veteran League of Legends Support huhi Reportedly Joining NRG for 2024 LCS Season
Choi “huhi” Jae-hyun, a veteran support player in the League of Legends scene, is set to leave Golden Guardians and join reigning LCS champions NRG for the upcoming 2024 season, according to reports from League blog Sheep Esports.
huhi’s Journey in the LCS
After years of playing for 100 Thieves and Golden Guardians, huhi may have finally found a new home with NRG. This marks a significant change for him as he embarks on the next chapter of his LCS career.
A Season of Mixed Results
Golden Guardians had a fairly successful regular season, finishing second in the LCS 2023 Spring Playoffs and fourth in the LCS Summer Split. Their fourth-place finish allowed them to compete in the Worlds Qualifying Series 2023, but they were unfortunately eliminated after a 0-3 loss against Team BDS.
NRG’s Ups and Downs
NRG had a somewhat disappointing start to the year, finishing fifth in their debut LCS split. However, they turned things around in the Summer Split and clinched the LCS Championship title, making a strong showing at Worlds and becoming the last Western team in the quarter-finals.
A Reunion and Potential Market Moves
By joining NRG, huhi will be reunited with his former teammate from 100 Thieves, Victor “FBI” Huang. Both players have years of experience in the LCS and their partnership will undoubtedly strengthen NRG’s roster. While there were reports that NRG was considering putting other players on the market, it seems unlikely at this point.
NRG’s Journey in the LCS
NRG initially debuted in the LCS in 2016 but had a brief stint in the league before dropping to Echo Fox in the Promotion tournament. However, their resurgence in 2023 has been remarkable, and with huhi now on board, NRG will continue to build on their success in the upcoming 2024 season.
