How to Hide Your Online Status in League of Legends

When playing LoL, it’s sometimes nice to appear offline. Maybe you want to grind without your League friends bothering you to play with them. If that’s the case, here are a few options to help you fly under the radar.

Can you appear offline in LoL?

To appear offline in LoL, you’ll need the help of an outside client like Deceive. While platforms like Steam, Discord, and Battle.net have an “appear offline” feature, Riot Games hasn’t officially included it in LoL or VALORANT.

How to appear offline in LoL using Deceive

To appear offline in LoL, you can download the Deceive program from Github. Unfortunately, there isn’t a built-in option in the game for this.

How does Deceive work, explained

Deceive filters your “global presence,” meaning you can still chat during games but won’t appear online. You can still see your friends list if you want to invite others to your lobby. If you want more privacy, you can also disable chat, pings, and more in the Interface settings.

How to install and use Deceive

To install Deceive, follow these steps:
1. Close your League client and Riot Client.
2. Go to the Deceive page on GitHub (https://github.com/molenzwiebel/Deceive/releases).
3. Download the latest version from the Releases section.
4. Open League and look for the Deceive category in your Social column. You’ll see a friend named “Deceive Active!” which confirms that the program is on.

How to turn off Deceive

If you want to turn off Deceive or change your status, simply right-click the Deceive icon in the tray icons on your Windows Taskbar.

Is Deceive available on Mac?

Currently, Deceive is not available on Mac. However, the latest version does support VALORANT and Legends of Runeterra.

How to disable chat in LoL

Disabling chat in LoL is a good idea for several reasons. Here’s how to do it:
1. Open the League of Legends client.
2. Go to Settings and click on the “Interface” section.
3. In the Interface settings, click on the “Chat” option.
4. Uncheck all the boxes under “Chat,” such as “Show All Chat” and “Show Allied Chat.”
5. Once you’ve unchecked those boxes, the in-game chat will be disabled. Enjoy toxicity-free gaming!
