Samsung Galaxy Blue: The Supreme Team
At the end of the 2013 season, it appeared like no one could challenge SK Telecom T1 K as the best League of Legends team in the world. However, their domination was broken when Samsung Galaxy Blue defeated them in the World Cyber Games qualification round. What made Samsung Blue’s triumph so remarkable was their unorthodox tactic of ignoring the enemy team and focused on demolishing their infrastructure.
Changing The Game
Samsung Blue soon emerged to the top of the Korean League of Legends scene thanks to their innovative methods, which revolutionized the way the game is played worldwide. In a competition with an obvious distinction between top-tier clubs and the rest, the KeSPA elite, including Samsung Galaxy, must constantly adapt and innovate to maintain their dominance.
A Reign of Innovation
Throughout the 2014 season, Samsung Blue maintained their winning streak by employing novel techniques. They introduced peripheral champion picks and were continually adjusting their siege composition. One major innovation was their use of Yasuo, who became a go-to counter-pick against highly valued heroes like Nidalee.
Another significant innovation was Samsung Blue’s adoption of Nocturne, a jungle champion who had fallen out of favor globally. Despite the champion’s decreased skills, Blue exploited Nocturne to dominate the battleground and win.
The team also partnered the weak Kog’Maw with the support champion Nami to increase their late-game damage output. This concept gained a lot of traction, and other teams all across the world followed suit.
The Future of Samsung Galaxy Blue
As the innovators of the Korean League of Legends scene, Samsung Galaxy Blue has become the supreme team, surpassing the shadow of their sister team, Ozone. However, their position at the top is unstable, so they must continue to adapt and innovate. The rest of KeSPA is learning from and adapting to their approach, making competition fierce.
