Hanwha Life Esports dominates DRX in 2021 LCK Summer Split
Hanwha Life Esports secured a convincing 2-0 victory against DRX in the latest match of the 2021 LCK Summer Split.
For Hanwha Life Esports, this win was particularly significant as their mid laner, Chovy, has struggled to find success during the split. On the other hand, DRX remains winless with seven losses, making it a disappointing start for the organization.
Both teams have fallen to the bottom of the standings after having hopes of competing for the LCK title in the previous split. Despite their poor form, HLE managed to gain a significant advantage over DRX in both games, securing two clean wins with a playstyle reminiscent of their successful 2021 Spring Split run.
The MVP votes for this match went to HLE’s Chovy and Deft, two formidable players who delivered outstanding performances. Chovy utilized Nocturne in the first game to roam the map and easily pick up kills against overextending opponents. Deft played Kalista in the second game, dominating the opposing bottom lane and finishing the match without a death, boasting a KDA of 8/0/9.
The first game of the series showcased HLE’s decisive play. They aggressively engaged in skirmishes all over the map and emerged victorious in most of them. With a small gold lead, they secured Rift Heralds and drakes to gain an advantage before dominating teamfights. In a 30-minute teamfight, initiated by Chovy’s Nocturne, they easily defeated DRX, taking a 1-0 lead in the series.
In the second match, DRX adjusted their draft to counter HLE, but the efforts proved futile. HLE once again demonstrated their aggressive playstyle, winning numerous early skirmishes, securing a gold lead, and ultimately claiming a 2-0 victory over DRX.

HLE (2-5) will face Nongshim RedForce (4-2), led by Peanut, on Sunday, July 4. To have any chance against their strong opponents, HLE will need to replicate their performance from this series. While it may be unlikely for HLE to secure a win, a victory would greatly boost their morale for the upcoming week.
