Hanwha Life Esports’ Chovy Achieves 1,000 Kills and 1,500 Assists in the LCK

Hanwha Life Esports: Chovy Reaches Milestones in LCK Career

Hanwha Life Esports’ star mid laner, Chovy, achieved two new milestones in his LCK career.

Chovy recently obtained his 1,000th kill and 1,500th assist during the previous series against DRX. Despite his team’s underperformance this Split, Chovy continues to be one of the league’s finest mid laners.

Chovy began his professional League of Legends journey in 2017. After a brief period with team Gwanju, he joined Griffin, a highly acclaimed LCK Challenger team. Alongside talented teammates like Tarzan and Viper, Chovy secured his first Challengers Korea title with an unbeaten 14-0 record.

Following a successful debut season, Chovy and his team advanced to the 2018 LCK Summer Split after defeating MVP. They finished second in the regular season with a 13-5 record, narrowly falling to KT Rolster in a thrilling 2-3 series. Despite two dominant years, the team faced internal issues and disbanded after their elimination from the 2019 World Championship.

Chovy then joined DRX and qualified for the World Championship in two consecutive Splits. However, the team’s journey ended in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Worlds against eventual champions DAMWON KIA. Following the departure of most DRX members, Chovy transferred to HLE alongside Deft. Under their leadership, three rookies achieved a top-three finish in the 2021 LCK Spring Split. However, in the Summer Split, the team has struggled to secure wins due to the drastic shift in the meta. Currently, they are in ninth place with only two wins and five losses.

Despite the team’s struggles, Chovy continues to perform well in his role and has impressive stats compared to other mid laners on stronger teams. Whether HLE can turn their performance around and qualify for the playoffs remains uncertain. However, with 50 Championship Points earned from their strong Spring Split performance, the team is likely to have a chance to qualify for this year’s World Championship through the regional gauntlet, even if they do not make it to the playoffs.

If HLE fails to significantly improve their performance, Chovy’s achievements may have little impact on their road to Worlds.
