Hanwha Life Secure Victory in 2019 LCK Summer Split

Hanwha Life has emerged victorious in their first game of the 2019 LCK Summer Split, defeating KT Rolster 2-0 today.

In game one, Hanwha Life’s mid-laner, Kim “Lava” Tae-hoon, turned the tide of the match with his LeBlanc play. He secured first blood on Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong’s Akali and created pressure in other lanes, helping his team secure a significant lead.

By the 28th minute, Hanwha Life had a substantial 9,000 gold lead, a Baron, and two inhibitors. They marched into KT’s base and closed out the game with a final teamfight, leaving KT Rolster dismantled and allowing Hanwha Life to take the ace.

Game two began better for KT Rolster, with Eom “UmTi” Seong-hyeon’s Skarner catching out Kim “bonO” Gi-beom’s Jarvan IV. This early advantage allowed KT to secure kills and objectives, including Rift Herald and the first tower.

However, Hanwha Life dominated the mid game, winning crucial teamfights to regain control of the map and secure the first Baron. KT managed to make a comeback as both teams engaged in all-out combat, slowly narrowing the gap.

The match came down to two pivotal fights around the Elder Dragons. Despite winning the first one and turning an 8,000 gold deficit into a 1,000 gold lead, KT struggled to break open Hanwha Life’s base.

Hanwha Life, determined not to repeat their previous mistakes, secured dragon control, the buff, and eliminated KT just minutes later, concluding the 50-minute slugfest—the longest game in the LCK so far this season.

With uncertainties now surrounding KT’s performance, having only beaten Jin Air and lost to a middle-of-the-table team, Hanwha Life appears to be on a more positive trajectory as they aim to secure a playoff spot in the 2019 LCK Summer Split.

Looking ahead, KT Rolster will be facing rising stars Damwon Gaming on June 14, while Hanwha Life’s next match will be against Afreeca Freecs on June 12.
