Griffin secures debut victory in LCK over Hanwha Life Esports

Griffin’s Unbeaten Streak Extends to 17 with LCK Debut Victory

Griffin extended their unbeaten streak to 17 wins after defeating Hanwha Life Esports in their LCK debut match.

The newest team in the LCK entered tonight’s match with a lot of hype. With an undefeated record in 2018 from Challengers Korea and the promotion tournament, Griffin had caught the attention of fans and experts. And in their first LCK match against Hanwha, they were determined to prove their skill.

Unfortunately for the fans, Hanwha took game one. Griffin failed to anticipate and prevent early ganks from Hanwha’s jungler, Yoon “SeongHwan” Seong-hwan, which led to a fed Darius. With SeongHwan’s ganks and strategic teleports, Hanwha’s top laner, Heo “Lindarang” Man-heung, gained a significant gold advantage as Darius, shredding through Griffin in skirmishes and teamfights.

Trailing by one game and with a substitution in the mid lane, Griffin’s first LCK match seemed to be going off track. They faced another early gold deficit and Hanwha was once again threatening their inhibitors by the 20-minute mark. Griffin’s chances of a comeback were dwindling.

But against all odds, Griffin made a comeback. They aced Hanwha while defending their base, earning a massive gold advantage and securing the Baron. With a composition that scaled better, Griffin slowly regained the lead and secured their first LCK victory, reminiscent of their successes in Challengers Korea.

Fresh off their first LCK win, Griffin dominated in game three to secure the victory. Hanwha, who once again drafted Darius, couldn’t give their top laner the same monstrous lead as in game one. Instead, it was Griffin’s top laner, Choi “Sword” Sung-won, on Dr. Mundo who became an unstoppable force. With Sword leading the charge and soaking up damage, Griffin easily won teamfights.

With their first LCK win under their belt, Griffin will return to the competitive stage on June 14 when they face MVP.
