Golden Guardians Welcomes Seasoned Veteran as New General Manager Following Another Subpar Year in LCS

North American League of Legends Coach Named Golden Guardians’ New General Manager

Nick “Inero” Smith, head coach of the North American League of Legends team, has been appointed as the new general manager of the Golden Guardians. Having coached for the organization for the past four years, Inero will now take on this new role.

Transition to New Leadership

Golden Guardians made the decision to part ways with their former general manager, Danan Flanders, in August, following a lackluster performance in the LCS. Inero will be supported by Ji Eun, the former team operations specialist, who has been promoted to assistant general manager. However, it is not known yet who will take over the coaching responsibilities previously held by Inero.

Exciting Times Ahead

Inero expressed his excitement about the new opportunity on Twitter, stating that he has plans for 2023 and beyond which he will share in the future. He thanked everyone for their support during his coaching tenure.

Past Achievements

During his time as coach, Inero achieved top-six finishes for the Golden Guardians in multiple LCS playoffs, including the 2022 Spring Split, 2020 Summer Split, 2020 Spring Split, and 2019 Spring Split.

The Golden Guardians organization believed that a staff overhaul was necessary for future success. The decision to appoint a new general manager reflects their commitment to finding success in the upcoming years.

The Golden Guardians’ League roster is currently led by jungler Kim “River” Dong-woo and top laner Eric “Licorice” Ritchie.
