Golden Guardians Introduces 2022 LCS Academy Roster

The Golden Guardians have unveiled their 2022 LCS Academy roster, which includes former LCS players Ryoma, Iconic, Chime, and new acquisitions Tony Top and Violet from Oceania’s LCO.

No Import Slots Taken by Oceania Players

In a rule change from last season, players from Oceania, such as Violet and Ryoma, are considered North American residents and do not occupy import slots on the Golden Guardians’ roster. This also applies to ADC Lost, who has an Oceanic background.

Chime and Iconic Join Golden Guardians’ Academy

After making several moves in free agency to strengthen their starting lineup, Chime and Iconic, both former players on Golden Guardians’ 2021 main LCS roster, will now play for the team’s Academy squad next season. The organization also secured the signing of Pridestalkr and the return of Olleh.

Akaadian Leads Golden Guardians’ Academy Team

Former LCS jungler Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham will take on the role of head coach for the Golden Guardians’ Academy team in his first year. Akaadian previously played as a starting jungler for Dignitas in the Summer Split of last season.

The start date for the 2022 Academy season has not been announced by the LCS, but the main season will commence on January 14 with the Lock-in tournament.
