Golden Guardians Replace Locodoco as Head Coach Before Week 3 Matches

Golden Guardians Remove Locodoco as Head Coach After Poor Performance

Golden Guardians (GGS), the North American LCS team, has made the decision to part ways with head coach Yoonsup “Locodoco” Choi after only two weeks of competitive play. The team took to Twitter today to make the announcement, stating that Locodoco has been removed from his position.

GGS currently holds the worst record in the league, failing to secure a single win. As a result, it comes as no surprise that changes are being made. However, the decision to remove Locodoco after just two weeks into the Spring Split is seen as unusually early, even considering the team’s poor performance. The team’s tweet regarding the termination did not provide any specific reasons for the decision.

Interim Replacement for Locodoco

This weekend, GGS will face league champions TSM and Team Liquid. Assistant coach Tyler Perron will step up as the interim head coach in place of Locodoco. Perron will hold the position until a permanent replacement is found for Locodoco.

Locodoco’s Coaching History

Locodoco has previously coached for popular LCS organizations such as TSM and Team Liquid. However, he has struggled to find success since leaving TSM at the end of the 2015 season. In 2016, he coached Team Liquid during one of their most challenging seasons. He later joined Challenger team Gold Coin United.

Under Locodoco’s guidance, Gold Coin United performed relatively well in 2017. However, the team was unable to qualify for the NA LCS before franchise expansion took place.

A Rocky Start for Locodoco

This year marked Locodoco’s return to the professional scene. Unfortunately, after two weeks of losses and now being let go by GGS, his first job back in the league, it’s clear that he’s off to a rough start.

When asked for comment, the Golden Guardians declined to provide any further information regarding the personnel matter.
