Golden Guardians eliminate TSM from 2022 LCS Lock In, move forward to Knockout Stage

Golden Guardians Advance to LCS Lock In Knockout Stage, TSM Eliminated

In a thrilling showdown, the Golden Guardians secured their spot in the Knockout Stage of the 2022 LCS Lock In event by defeating TSM. TSM, unfortunately, has been eliminated from the tournament.

Initially, it seemed like TSM had the upper hand in the battle for the final Group A spot. However, Golden Guardians took control of the mid-to-late game with impressive performances from Ry0ma and Stixxay, leveraging their veteran experience against TSM’s young lineup.

Golden Guardians’ Strategic Superiority

The balance between the two teams in the early game shifted when they fought for control of the Rift Herald at the 17-minute mark. TSM traded the Rift Herald for two kills, while GG’s Stixxay aimed to scale up for the late game. This decision paid off, as GG dominated the midgame with their superior macro decisions.

At the 20-minute mark, GG displayed a better understanding of midgame strategy and swiftly secured mid-priority by taking down the mid lane outer turret and acquiring their third dragon. They eventually defeated three members of TSM and secured the Baron buff.

With these advantages, Stixxay and Ry0ma were able to siege the bottom and mid lane turrets, leaving TSM defenseless against the pressure imposed by GG. The game concluded in just 27 minutes, resulting in TSM’s defeat.

Jinx and Corki Reign Supreme

Jinx and Corki continue to dominate the meta and played a crucial role in Golden Guardians’ success. Despite TSM’s valiant effort to snowball their early-game lead, GG’s superior macro play proved to be insurmountable. GG won the head-to-head tiebreaker against TSM, securing their spot in the Knockout Stage.

Unfortunately, TSM’s journey in the LCS Lock In Tournament ends here. However, their Academy players will take the lessons learned from this experience and apply them in the LCS Academy Spring season.

Golden Guardians to Face Evil Geniuses in Quarterfinals

Golden Guardians will now enter the LCS Lock In Knockout Stage, where they will face Evil Geniuses, the top-seeded team from Group B, in the quarterfinals.

The highly anticipated best-of-three series between GG and EG will take place on January 23. The winner will advance to the LCS Lock In Semifinals.
