Gen.G emerge victorious against DWG KIA as Ophelia substitutes for Chovy in 2022 LCK Spring Split

Gen.G Secures 2-1 Victory over DWG KIA in LCK Spring Split

Gen.G started the eighth week of the 2022 LCK Spring Split on a high note with a 2-1 win against DWG KIA. Despite missing their star mid laner Chovy, who tested positive for COVID-19, rookie Baek “Ophelia” Jin-seong performed admirably as a replacement from the Academy team.

Ophelia impressed in today’s match against DWG KIA in League of Legends. He remained composed under pressure, executing clean laning phases and following his teammates’ shot calls.

However, the series was a close one. While Gen.G secured the first game victory after a grueling 41 minutes, DWG KIA bounced back in the second game with a dominant performance by bot laner Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil on Ezreal.

The Decisive Third Game

The third game of the series proved to be the most intense. Although DWG KIA had a seemingly advantageous versatile draft, Gen.G managed to turn the tide in their favor. They took risks, opting for a composition that included Renata Glasc as support, a champion they had only practiced with once in scrims.

Both teams were evenly matched in terms of gold throughout most of the game. However, Gen.G gained the upper hand by winning two crucial teamfights around Baron and the Elder Drake.

In these tense situations, Gen.G demonstrated flawless execution of patient engages, skillfully avoiding ShowMaker’s abilities on Ahri and strategically maneuvering around DWG KIA to secure kills and objectives.

Victory for Gen.G

At the final fight, Gen.G patiently waited for the opportune moment to engage and emerged victorious, clinching a hard-fought victory. With this win, Gen.G’s record in the 2022 LCK Spring Split now stands at 12-3, while DWG KIA falls to 9-6.

Gen.G fans can anticipate the return of Chovy in the next series against Hanwha Life Esports on Saturday, March 12 at 5am CT. On the other hand, DWG KIA will face off against NongShim RedForce on Friday, March 11 at 5am CT.
