Gen.G climbs to second place with a quick victory against KINGZONE DragonX

Gen.G Defeats KINGZONE DragonX in LCK Match

Gen.G has secured a decisive victory against KINGZONE DragonX today, propelling them to second place in the LCK standings.

KINGZONE’s performance has been underwhelming since their loss at Rift Rivals earlier this month. Their macro play has suffered, especially with their jungler, Han “Peanut” Wang-ho, failing to meet expectations. This slump reached its peak when they lost to Jin Air Green Wings, a team in the ninth-place, just a few days ago.

Today, KINGZONE had a chance to break free from this slump by defeating Gen.G, one of the top teams in the league. Unfortunately for KINGZONE, they were unable to secure the win.

Both Gen.G and KINGZONE played the first game passively, avoiding teamfights and focusing on farming. KINGZONE’s jungler, Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan, attempted to secure marks as Kindred, while Gen.G looked for scaling opportunities. As a result, neither team gained a significant advantage.

After 24 minutes of a stalemate, KINGZONE initiated a teamfight under Gen.G’s tower in an attempt to gain an advantage. However, they used their major ultimates too early, leaving them defenseless against Gen.G’s counter-engage. This turned the tides in Gen.G’s favor, leading to three kills, the baron, and eventually a nexus.

Peanut returned to the starting roster for game two, giving KINGZONE hope for a comeback. He secured an early double kill as Kindred, providing the team with a decent lead. They also managed to take four Elemental Drakes and all three of Gen.G’s outer turrets. However, their progress halted there.

Gen.G defended their remaining towers effectively, preventing KINGZONE from making any further advancements. Gen.G’s composition was built for late-game scaling, and they played accordingly.

Once Gen.G reached the 30-minute mark, the game was practically over. KINGZONE, despite their lead and objectives, couldn’t defeat Gen.G in teamfights. To make matters worse, a poorly executed engage around the Baron pit allowed Gen.G to quickly turn the tables and secure victory.

With this win, Gen.G now sits at second place in the standings. They will face off against Afreeca Freecs on July 22.
