GE Tigers shatter Western aspirations at IEM

GE Tigers Dominates League of Legends Tournament at Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) in Katowice

In a surprising turn of events, GE Tigers, the favorites heading into the League of Legends tournament at Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) in Katowice, dominated Cloud9 in the first game of the tournament. The game was one of the most one-sided matches of the season, with GE Tigers holding a 10,000 gold lead by 20 minutes and 22 kills on the board.

The Koreans continued their impressive performance with a convincing victory against SK Gaming, securing the first spot in the bracket stage of the tournament.

Kings of League of Legends

The match showcased the skills of GE Tigers’ top laner, Smeb, who had an outstanding performance with a 12/1/9 KDA on Lissandra. He used teleport effectively to secure kills and dominate the early game. Mid laner Kur0 also had a noteworthy performance, finishing with a 12/1/10 KDA on LeBlanc.

Cloud9’s solo laners struggled against GE Tigers’ dominant presence, resulting in poor performances from Balls and Hai.

Continued Domination

GE Tigers continued their rampage against Europe’s best team, SK Gaming, nullifying their fast push style with precise bans and early game strategy. Despite a better fight from SK Gaming compared to Cloud9, GE Tigers ultimately secured a close victory with 27 kills against SK Gaming’s 10 kills. Smeb stood out once again, making his case for tournament MVP with an 8/4/14 Maokai performance.

GE Tigers’ dominance in the top region of League of Legends continues, with a 10-0 series record and 20-2 map record. They have proven why they are the team to watch in the IEM tournament.

Upcoming Matches

SK Gaming still has a chance to advance to the bracket stage but will need to win against yoe Flash Wolves. Unfortunately, Cloud9’s run in the tournament ended with a loss to the Taiwanese team, despite building a significant lead.
