G2’s Remarkable Triumph over MAD Lions Boosts Their Position in LEC Regular Season Rankings

G2 Esports Defeats MAD Lions in Convincing Match, Aims for LEC Trophy

G2 Esports, the former kings of Europe, showcased their dominance in a convincing victory against defending champions MAD Lions. This win puts G2 Esports in a strong position to secure another LEC trophy in the 2021 Summer Split.

Resurgence of G2 Esports

During the summer split, fans of the popular game League of Legends were concerned about whether G2 Esports had lost their competitive edge since their defeat in the 2021 Spring Split playoffs. The team experienced a rough patch, losing four consecutive games in weeks three and four. Their gameplay lacked the coordination and precision seen in previous iterations, along with uncharacteristic mistakes. Fortunately, G2 Esports improved as the split progressed.

MAD Lions Struggles

MAD Lions also faced difficulties at the start of the summer split, often attributed to a “MSI hangover.” They suffered defeats against lower-seeded teams and didn’t demonstrate the same level of teamfighting prowess as the previous season.

However, in the match against MAD Lions, G2 Esports dominated. With Caps’ Twisted Fate and Wunder’s Gangplank providing global pressure, and Rekkles’ Kalista delivering an outstanding performance with 11 kills, four assists, and only one death, G2 Esports showcased clean and precise teamfighting. Despite a risky decision regarding the Elder Dragon, they maintained their composure under pressure.

G2 Esports Ties with MAD Lions

With this victory, G2 Esports has equalized with MAD Lions in the standings at 10-6. Now, G2 Esports aims to continue their winning streak into the postseason, capitalizing on this newfound momentum. MAD Lions, on the other hand, need to regroup and address their weaknesses.
