G2’s losing streak continues at MSI, enabling T1 to take second place in rumble stage.

T1 Bounces Back with a Dominant Victory over G2 Esports

After suffering a defeat at the hands of Evil Geniuses earlier in the day, T1 was in desperate need of a mental reset. Fortunately, they found their redemption against G2 Esports in a one-sided match that lasted just over 21 minutes. G2, who had previously enjoyed a record-breaking 24-game winning streak, are now on a four-game losing streak.

G2 and T1 entered the match with identical records of 4-3 at the MSI rumble stage. Although G2 had emerged victorious in their first encounter, inflicting T1’s first loss of the year, T1 fought back and emerged triumphant this time. They dominated G2 with a total kill score of 18 to 9.

T1’s Gumayusi Shines as AD Carry

T1’s AD carry, Gumayusi, played a crucial role in their victory against G2. He showcased his prowess with his signature pick, Aphelios, and maintained an incredible win rate of 11 out of 12 games in 2022. Gumayusi’s overall record with Aphelios is an impressive 26-5, according to League stats site Games of Legends.

G2’s Challenging Situation

G2 started the rumble stage with four consecutive wins but have now suffered four consecutive losses. They currently find themselves in fourth place in the rumble stage standings. With only two games left to play, G2 risks being eliminated from the final bracket of MSI.

If G2 and T1 end the rumble stage with equal records, a tiebreaker game will be needed as they have split their head-to-head matchups. Both teams will face Saigon Buffalo tomorrow. G2 will conclude their rumble stage run against Evil Geniuses, a team they have defeated five times in a row. Meanwhile, T1 will wrap things up with a game against Royal Never Give Up.
