G2’s League of Legends General Manager Reveals Impressive Scrim Results Following Elimination from Worlds 2023

G2 Esports Eliminated from 2023 League of Legends World Championship

The 2023 League of Legends World Championship came to a disappointing end for European fans as all of the region’s representatives, including G2 Esports, were eliminated from the competition over the weekend.

G2 Esports, the top seed from the LEC, dropped out of the tournament on October 29 after a 2-1 series loss to China’s Bilibili Gaming. The team’s general manager, Romain Bigeard, took to Twitter to share the team’s full scrim schedule and results, which revealed shocking records against BLG and NRG Esports, the first seed from the LCS.

According to Bigeard’s post, G2 had winning records against top LPL squads like JD Gaming, LNG Esports, and Weibo Gaming, but were defeated by Gen.G, T1, and Fnatic during their scrim blocks in Korea. Despite their impressive practice performance, G2’s early exit from the World Championship showed that good practice alone doesn’t guarantee success.

In fact, G2 had overwhelmingly winning records in scrims against the final two teams they lost to, with a 7-0 record against NRG and a 10-3 record against BLG. However, on stage, they were dominated by NRG and narrowly lost to BLG.

G2’s Unexpected Departure from Worlds

G2’s sudden departure from the World Championship came as a surprise for the League of Legends community, considering the team’s extensive preparation for the event. Romain expressed disappointment on social media and highlighted the team’s dedication, which included over 900 scrims, countless solo queue games, VODs, 1v1 and 2v2 matches, and various self-care routines.

Romain emphasized that this loss was particularly difficult for G2 since the team had poured their heart and soul into creating the perfect system. They had put in countless hours to refine their gameplay and strategies.

Looking Ahead for G2 Esports

As G2’s League of Legends division moves forward, they will need to make important decisions regarding their roster and training system. They must address the issues that led to their disappointing finish in 2023 in order to start the new year on a higher note.
