G2 Esports Secures First Victory at Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage
G2 Esports has given European League of Legends fans a reason to celebrate as they secure their first win at the Worlds 2023 Swiss stage. The LEC representatives defeated Dplus KIA in a heated best-of-one series.
Hans Sama’s Dominant Performance
In the game, Hans Sama chose his signature champion, Draven. G2 played aggressively and strategically to secure kills and help Hans Sama grow stronger. This allowed them to maintain a lead for most of the game. Although there were some slip-ups, DK, fortunately for European fans, failed to capitalize on the opportunities.
G2 made a crucial mistake by giving away the first Baron Nashor early in the game. This gave DK a massive lead and almost wiped out G2. However, with smart teamfighting and champion picks around dragons, G2 managed to regain control and ultimately overwhelmed DK.
The Intense Rivalry between G2 and DK
G2 and DK have a heated rivalry, having faced each other in all three previous Worlds they both participated in. G2 emerged victorious in 2019, but DK prevailed in 2020 and 2022.
Bracket Results and Teams’ Standings
With this victory, G2 is now the second Western team to advance to the 1-0 bracket, following Cloud9’s win against MAD Lions. On the other hand, DK joins teams like Team Liquid and Team BDS in the 0-1 bracket.
