G2 struggled against IG today, but they still retained their distinct identity

G2 Esports: Exceeding Expectations at Worlds 2018

G2 Esports, Europe’s third seed, surprised their fans and the esports community by making it to the quarterfinals of the 2018 League of Legends World Championship. Initially underestimated, G2 faced tough competition from Flash Wolves and Afreeca Freecs in the group stage, but they persevered and advanced to the playoffs.

In the quarterfinals, G2 Esports achieved a major upset by defeating RNG, a top contender for the championship. However, in their match against Invictus Gaming, G2 did not perform at their best and seemed hesitant in their gameplay.

Throughout most of Worlds, G2 showcased an aggressive playstyle, focusing on controlling the map and securing early advantages. They played unlike any other team in the tournament and surprised their opponents. However, in the series against Invictus Gaming, G2 seemed subdued and didn’t take risks.

Despite the disappointing performance in the semifinals, the EU LCS community should be proud of G2 Esports. They shattered expectations and proved that Europe’s third seed is capable of competing against the world’s best teams. G2’s journey at Worlds 2018 will be remembered as a triumph for European esports.
