G2 make a comeback, finish rumble stage with crucial victory against Evil Geniuses

G2 Esports Ends Losing Streak with Victory in Mid-Season Invitational

G2 Esports finally broke their losing streak by defeating Evil Geniuses (EG) in the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) rumble stage. After losing five consecutive games, G2 secured a win to advance to the knockout stage of the event.

This victory was particularly significant because G2 had previously won all five meetings against EG at MSI. Although this sixth match was a close one, with the game lasting over 35 minutes, G2 ultimately emerged victorious and completed the sweep over EG.

Despite avoiding elimination earlier in the day when PSG Talon lost to Royal Never Give Up, G2’s win against EG helped them secure third place in the rumble stage. This was a crucial improvement in their seeding as they had been on the verge of fifth place. With a final record of 5-5, G2 finished the rumble stage with an even result.

During the game, EG initially took a small lead, but G2’s coordinated macro play allowed them to turn the tide in the mid-game. G2 effectively applied pressure in the side lanes while maintaining a strong presence across the map, preventing EG from taking objectives unnoticed.

In the end, G2 sealed their victory through a series of late-game teamfights. AD carry Flakked played a crucial role in these key moments, especially with his late-game-focused pick of Kai’sa. Flakked’s quadra kill in the closing stages of the game played a significant part in G2’s success, and he finished the game with an impressive scoreline of 6/0/2.

With this win, G2 secured third place in the rumble stage and earned a spot in the knockout stage. They will face either RNG or T1 in the next round, depending on the choices made by the representatives from the LPL.
