G2 Esports start the EU LCS Spring Split with a crucial victory against Misfits

G2 Esports Starts Title Defense with Victory Against Misfits

G2 Esports kicked off the 2018 League of Legends EU LCS Spring Split with a win against Misfits, showcasing their determination to defend their title.

Both teams entered the Spring Split with revamped rosters, generating excitement among fans eager to see how these new lineups would perform.

Today’s match carried great significance for both teams, as a victory would establish them as strong contenders for the EU LCS championship. Misfits and G2 aimed to secure a crucial first win in their quest for the crown.

The early minutes of the game were slow-paced, but the intensity quickly escalated.

Misfits focused on the bot lane and secured a few kills. G2, however, swiftly responded with a kill of their own, keeping the game balanced in its early stages.

G2 strategically invested in the mid and top lanes to maintain a small gold lead while Misfits relentlessly targeted the bottom lane. This lead allowed G2 to claim the Rift Herald just before the 20-minute mark, gaining an advantage by cracking Misfits’ outer towers.

In the mid game, Misfits had opportunities to turn the tide in their favor. However, G2 capitalized on Misfits’ communication errors, securing the necessary resources to extend their gold lead.

Misfits’ attempt to steal Baron came too late to reverse their fortunes. G2’s tanky team composition of Sejuani, Cho’Gath, and Tahm Kench proved too formidable. G2 advanced, protecting their damage dealers while gradually chipping away at Misfits’ base.

G2 secured their victory by claiming a second Baron at the 40-minute mark, shattering Misfits’ inhibitor towers.

Tomorrow, G2 will face off against Roccat, aiming to double their victory count in the first week of the EU LCS. Meanwhile, Misfits will compete against Schalke 04, a returning EU LCS team, in the final match of the day.
