G2 Esports regains top spot in EU LCS as Fnatic falters

G2 Esports Reclaims Top Spot in EU LCS

G2 Esports has reclaimed the top spot in the EU LCS this week, thanks to a disappointing performance from rivals Fnatic.

Last week, Fnatic secured the number one spot in the Summer split, but they suffered losses in both of their matches this week, greatly hindering their chances of winning the regular season.

G2 Defeats Fnatic in Week Five Match

G2 and Fnatic faced off for the first time this split in week five, and G2 emerged victorious with a 2-0 win. This victory propelled G2 back to the top of the rankings.

In another blow to Fnatic, they were unexpectedly defeated by Giants Gaming in their second match of the weekend. This loss left Fnatic three points behind G2 Esports, marking their first 0-2 week of the split.

Origen and H2k-Gaming Secure Draws

G2 was unable to fully capitalize on Fnatic’s setbacks as they only managed to secure a draw against Origen. Meanwhile, Origen secured another draw against third-place team H2k-Gaming. All three teams are currently locked in a four-way fight for the spot just above the relegation zone.

Giants Gaming Records Perfect Week

Giants Gaming had a standout performance this week, recording a perfect 2-0 score. Their victories against Roccat and Fnatic doubled their total wins for the season and greatly improved their chances of making it to playoffs.

Splyce, who also faced the Summer promotion tournament after a disappointing Spring split, continue to impress with a win over Vitality and a draw with Unicorns of Love. They are now in a strong position to reach the playoffs in their second season.
