G2 Esports Retain EU LCS Title with Thrilling Victory over Unicorns of Love
G2 Esports has secured their title and lifted another EU LCS trophy after an intense final against the Unicorns of Love.
In the first game, G2 Esports dominated as they capitalized on the Unicorns’ mistakes. Taking advantage of UoL’s aggressiveness, G2 comfortably secured a win.
In game two, Unicorns of Love showed their strength by punishing G2’s errors in the early game. However, G2 had other plans and fought back with a team fight, followed by taking Baron and eventually closing out the game.
In game three, G2 Esports continued their dominance. Unicorns of Love faced heavy consequences for their poor positioning, especially when attempting tower dives. Desperate for a win, the Unicorns sent single members to other lanes for split pushes, only to be repeatedly picked off by G2.
Despite a shaky start, Unicorns of Love displayed patience and secured a clean ace after thirty minutes in game four. This allowed them to secure a Baron and keep their championship hopes alive.
In game four, Unicorns of Love aimed for a reverse sweep against G2 Esports. However, they made the mistake of giving G2 too many kills early on. The Unicorns sacrificed too many resources to deal with a single target, allowing G2 to effortlessly destroy their base and ultimately claim the title.
G2 Esports once again proved their dominance in Europe and are likely to represent the region at Worlds this year. Only time will tell if they can improve upon their underwhelming international performances in 2016.
