G2 dominates Splyce in the EU LCS with exceptional execution of the funnel strategy

G2 Esports Defeats Splyce in Esports Showdown

G2 Esports emerged victorious against Splyce after a series of in-game pauses on Saturday.

G2 has consistently dominated Splyce in previous matchups, including a win in the 2018 Spring Split semifinals. This gave G2 a clear advantage heading into the game.

G2 assembled a team focused on the meta’s few remaining non-crit marksmen, such as Kai’Sa, with Heimerdinger and support-jungle Braum. Splyce, on the other hand, utilized ADC Ziggs and support Fiddlesticks. G2 strategically funneled gold into their mid lane Kai’Sa in the early game, while Splyce focused on roaming and securing objectives like the Infernal Drake and first tower.

Despite lacking strong support for Kai’Sa, G2 leveraged their powerful ranged composition effectively.

During the first 20 minutes, G2 and Splyce remained relatively even in gold. The threat of Splyce’s damage potential kept them in contention against G2.

G2 executed a similar strategy to Fnatic in their previous game against Schalke—they waited for Kai’Sa to reach level 16 before sneaking a Baron from under Splyce’s nose. This allowed G2 to take control of the game for the first time in 23 minutes.

This loss brings Splyce’s record against G2 to 2-6 in 2018. Following a defeat against Vitality yesterday, Splyce is still searching for its first victory of the season as they aim for a Worlds spot.

Splyce will face the undefeated Misfits lineup on June 22, while G2 will take on Schalke on the same day.
