G2 defeats SK to aid MAD Lions in securing playoff spot during 2021 LEC Summer Split

G2 Esports Defeats SK Gaming in Intense LEC Summer Split Match

G2 Esports emerged victorious over SK Gaming in a thrilling 35-minute match during the 2021 LEC Summer Split. The win not only improved G2’s standing to 7-6, but it also secured a playoff spot for MAD Lions.

Prior to the match, G2 was heavily favored due to their impressive recent performances. However, SK Gaming put up a strong fight, matching G2’s aggression and staying competitive in terms of gold. Eventually, Caps and the rest of the G2 team gained a significant advantage in the mid game, allowing them to secure a substantial lead.

Jankos was named the player of the game, receiving 79.8 percent of the vote. His aggressive plays and first competitive Viego pick allowed him to swing teamfights in G2’s favor, finishing the game with a scoreline of 5/3/9.

Despite SK Gaming securing the first few kills in the bottom lane, G2 quickly bounced back with successful plays in the middle lane. The pace of the game slowed as both teams focused on acquiring their core items. G2 emerged victorious in an explosive fight for the fourth dragon, with Caps and Rekkles gaining most of the gold. With their core carries fed, G2 won the next two teamfights, ultimately winning the match.

Although G2 has not yet qualified for the playoffs, they currently hold the highest chance of securing one of the two remaining spots, thanks to their three-game lead over other contenders. They will face Misfits in their next match on the Rift.
