G2 considers using Promisq as substitute for the remainder of the 2019 LEC Spring Split

G2 Esports May Replace Support Player Mikyx in LEC Spring Split

G2 Esports, a top team in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), is considering replacing their Slovenian support player Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle for the remaining games in the 2019 LEC Spring Split regular season.

A Potential Replacement

G2 ADC Luka “Perkz” Perković revealed during a Facebook conversation with Origen player Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodríguez on stream that G2 might have to use Swedish support player Hampus “promisq” Mikael, formerly known as sprattel, on stage.

Perkz mentioned this as a solution to Mikyx’s long-term wrist issues.

The Impact on G2’s Performance

Mikyx’s wrist problems have led G2’s head coach, Fabian “GrabbZ” Lohmann, to announce a reduction in practice time. This decision aims to support Mikyx and maintain the team’s performance despite his absence.

G2’s Current Situation

G2 currently holds the top spot in the LEC standings with a 13-3 record. They have secured the No. 1 seed for the upcoming playoffs after defeating second-place Vitality.

However, they still have two games left against Misfits and Fnatic before the playoffs begin. Even if promisq struggles on stage, it is unlikely to impact G2’s standing in the standings.

Potential Impact on the League’s Overall Standings

If G2 loses their next match against Fnatic, Fnatic has a good chance of making the playoffs. Misfits also has a slim chance of advancing if they win against G2 and Fnatic and Schalke 04 lose their next two games.

It will be interesting to see how G2 performs with promisq as their support player and how it affects their position in the playoffs.
