G2 and Splyce both excelled in their respective splits, but who outshone the other?

G2 Secures Semifinals Bye in EU LCS Spring Split Playoffs

G2 and Splyce faced off in a tiebreaker on the last day of the EU LCS Spring Split regular season to determine who would earn a bye into the semifinals of the playoffs. G2 emerged victorious, showcasing their advantage over Splyce after a season of growth.

Both teams had high expectations heading into the Spring Split. While G2 started off decently and Splyce struggled to find consistency, it was anticipated as both teams experienced significant player changes. Only Perkz on G2 and Kobbe on Splyce returned from last year’s roster.

Perkz took on the role of captain and displayed excellent leadership throughout the split, leading G2 to contend for a top spot. Despite a few losses against bottom teams, the team’s seven-game win streak highlighted their strengths and ability to compete against any roster, with the exception of Fnatic who remained undefeated. On the other hand, Splyce took longer to find their footing.

Splyce faced challenges in deciding which lanes to focus on and determining their playstyle, resulting in inconsistency during the initial weeks. It wasn’t until the seventh week that Splyce won both of their games in a single week. The improvement of Odoamne’s performance played a crucial role in the team’s turnaround. From being a mid-table team, Splyce fought for a first round bye.

Out of the three matches between G2 and Splyce, G2 emerged victorious twice, while Splyce won once. G2 displayed dominance in the tiebreaker, securing the win after a strong mid game. Despite Splyce’s comeback attempt in the first game, G2 quickly regained control to secure the victory.

Ultimately, G2 had a better split record-wise, as they were able to find their groove earlier on and play cohesively as a team. Jankos, in particular, showed excellent synergy with his teammates, allowing for efficient ganks and providing support to the right players. This played a significant role in G2 finishing above Splyce.

While G2 came out on top this time, both teams show promise for the future. With Fnatic as the top seed in the playoffs, victory is not guaranteed, as both Splyce and G2 are hitting their stride.
