Full tooltips of Briar’s damage and healing abilities showcased on LoL’s PBE

League of Legends’ Upcoming Champion Briar: A Closer Look

League of Legends fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the game’s upcoming champion, Briar. This Noxian vampire brings an insatiable hunger that is ready to dominate the jungle of Summoner’s Rift. Briar’s recent appearance on League’s PBE (Public Beta Environment) has provided fans with a clear understanding of her unique abilities and playstyle.

Feasting on Danger: Briar’s Unique Abilities

Briar’s abilities require her to put herself in the face of danger to succeed. Her distinctive Blood Frenzy form brings out her true hunger. It is crucial to understand the intricacies of her abilities, as they rely on her health percentage and do not regenerate over time like other champions. However, Briar compensates for this drawback with exceptional healing through her passive ability, Crimson Curse. This healing increases substantially as she continuously attacks her enemies, in proportion to her own current health.

In addition, Briar’s W and ultimate abilities activate Blood Frenzy. During this form, she places a taunt on herself towards the closest enemy, gaining a base 60% bonus attack speed. She barrages the target with auto attacks, increasing her attack speed to 120% over time. The area-of-effect damage of this ability also grows exponentially, dealing 100% of the damage done to the main target in a small area at max rank.

Empowered by Certain Death: Briar’s Ultimate

Briar’s ultimate ability, Certain Death, provides her with a significant power boost. When recasting Certain Death to fly towards an enemy, she gains additional armor and magic resist, dependent on her current AD (Attack Damage) total. This essentially gives Briar a free tank item, enhancing her survivability and ensuring she stays close to her desired prey.

This ability makes Briar an even greater threat in the later stages of the game. At level 16, the immediate landing damage of her ultimate nearly quadruples, and she gains unmatched life steal and movement speed compared to other champions. It’s worth noting that her ultimate also has an AP (Ability Power) ratio, but it’s unlikely that non-AD builds will be viable for Briar.

Release and Professional Play

Briar, the Restrained Hunger, is currently available for testing on League’s PBE. She is expected to be released on the live servers alongside Patch 13.18 on September 13th. However, due to her release timing, Briar is unlikely to be available for professional play in international tournaments for the rest of the year.
