Froggen returns to the scene, set to join Golden Guardians

Henrik “Froggen” Hansen Expected to Sign with Golden Guardians

Legendary mid lane star, Henrik “Froggen” Hansen, is set to make a comeback in the LCS. According to a report from ESPN, he is expected to join the Golden Guardians for the upcoming season.

A Return for Froggen

Froggen, known as one of the best Western mid laners of all time, faced tough times when he moved to North America in 2016. He struggled with Echo Fox for two years before being benched and replaced. After a year of streaming, he has found a new home with another lower-ranked team, Golden Guardians, who finished last in both splits in 2018.

Replacing Mickey

Froggen is likely to replace Song “Mickey” Young-min, who was acquired by Golden Guardians mid-season. Mickey, who was the team’s best player during the summer, struggled to find synergy with the rest of the team and failed to show enough solo-carry potential. As a result, the team allowed his contract to lapse while the rest of the starting roster remains signed through 2019.

Golden Guardians’ Head of Esports, Hunter Leigh, had previously praised Mickey’s skill and potential. However, it seems that management decided a change was necessary. The team also hired a new head coach, Nick “Inero” Smith, who previously worked with Froggen on Echo Fox. This familiarity between coach and mid laner may have influenced the decision to sign Froggen.

A Challenge to Overcome

Both the team and Froggen face a significant challenge to improve their performance in the upcoming season. They have both experienced a recent downturn, which adds extra pressure to their partnership.
