Froggen and Golden Guardians secure playoffs spot in the 2019 LCS Spring Split defeating OpTic Gaming

Golden Guardians Qualify for LCS Playoffs

After a decisive victory against OpTic Gaming in the final week of the 2019 LCS Spring Split, the Golden Guardians have secured a spot in the LCS playoffs for the first time in their franchise history. This is a significant milestone for the team, considering they finished last in both splits last year.

Following a disappointing split, the Golden Guardians made some major changes to their lineup, dropping a majority of the team. They filled the roster with former TSM top laner Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell, support Kim “Olleh” Joo-sung, and veteran mid laner Henrik “Froggen” Hansen in hopes of turning things around.

This playoff appearance is also a first for Froggen, who has spent over two years in North America. Despite his talent, he has never had the opportunity to showcase his skills in the playoffs due to his teams’ struggles during the regular season.

After being released from Echo Fox, where he finished both 2017 splits in eighth place, Froggen took a year-long break from LCS play. He joined the new-look Golden Guardians roster in 2019, determined to prove that he is still a dominant force in the mid lane.

Froggen's Playoff Debut

The addition of several new players to the Golden Guardians roster brings a lot of potential. Hauntzer had a particularly rough split with TSM, and Olleh was recently replaced by Team Liquid after their disappointing performance at Worlds 2018. Each player has a point to prove, and their hunger and determination may give them an advantage in the playoffs.

Golden Guardians Playoff Prospect

The Golden Guardians’ journey to the LCS playoffs is a testament to their resilience and hard work. With a revamped roster and a hunger to succeed, they are ready to make a statement in the postseason.
