French football club Paris Saint-Germain explores potential entry into League.

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), one of the biggest soccer clubs, is now setting its sights on dominating the world of League of Legends, as reported by French newspaper L’Équipe today.

Although PSG is currently the number one soccer team in France, they are looking to expand their success to esports by partnering with the already established Millenium esports organization.

While PSG would be the first French club to enter the esports industry, they wouldn’t be the first professional football team to do so. Schalke 04, for example, competed in the European LCS during the most recent Summer Split.

Other clubs, such as Besiktas, Manchester United, and West Ham United, have also been involved in esports, with teams in the Turkish leagues for League of Legends and competitive FIFA players.

Recently, controversy has arisen regarding the advantages and disadvantages of owning a team in the League Championship Series. TSM owner and former player Andy “Reginald” Dinh, as well as Riot owner Marc Merrill, have engaged in a public exchange on Twitter.

At present, Millenium is not part of the LCS. Therefore, a partnership with PSG would likely lead to the creation of a new lineup in the Challenger Series before competing in the LCS.
