FPX surprises Bilibili Gaming in the 2022 LPL Spring Split

FunPlus Phoenix’s Win Boosts Their Playoff Chances in the 2022 LPL Spring Split

FunPlus Phoenix (FPX) has ignited their playoff hopes in the 2022 LPL Spring Split with a thrilling victory against Bilibili Gaming. Currently, FPX sits just outside the playoff zone with a 5-7 record. However, this impressive win has given them a much-needed boost as the regular season nears its end.

In game one, Bilibili Gaming took an early lead, ultimately winning the game after nearly 40 minutes. Although FPX had a slight gold advantage at 15 minutes, Bilibili Gaming dominated the neutral objectives, surrendering only one dragon throughout the entire game.

As the game progressed, FPX struggled to regain control, with Bilibili Gaming capitalizing on opportunities and securing both late-game objectives: the second Baron and the Elder Drake. This allowed Bilibili Gaming to secure the first Nexus and claim victory in the series.

In game two, FPX quickly turned the tides in their favor. Bilibili Gaming’s attempts at early aggression failed, leading to an FPX lead. Xiaolaohu stood out as the star player, dominating with Fiora’s splitpush ability. His exceptional performance led to FPX breaking Bilibili Gaming’s base at the 24-minute mark.

Xiaolaohu contributed significantly to the team’s success in game two, accounting for 32 percent of the damage share and finishing with an impressive 9/2/5 scoreline.

Game three showcased a messy early game, with both teams engaging in multiple skirmishes. Bilibili Gaming initially gained a slight advantage, but FPX turned the tide with a well-executed ambush. This shifted the game’s momentum in FPX’s favor.

Despite Bilibili Gaming’s individual players having significant gold leads, they struggled to coordinate fights in the mid-to-late game. FPX capitalized on this, claiming crucial objectives such as Baron and Dragon Soul. With their fifth win of the season, FPX moved within striking distance of a playoff spot, trailing just one game behind the 10th-place team.

FPX’s next game against OMG on March 11 will be crucial in their push for the playoffs. On the other hand, Bilibili Gaming, despite their recent struggles, is still expected to make it to the playoffs. Their upcoming match against Victory Five will be an opportunity for them to bounce back.
