Four Unexpected Stories to Look out for at Worlds 2016

Surprises at the 2016 Season World Championship

Cloud9

The third seed from North America, Cloud9, has been performing exceptionally well. In their group, they have the potential to surprise everyone. The team is in top form, and their positive atmosphere makes it difficult for them to tilt.

Cloud9 has a strong coach, Reapered, who has improved the team’s strategic play both in game and out of game. With their strong teamwork and improved drafting, Cloud9 has the potential to win their group.

While winning the event may be a stretch, Cloud9 has a chance to make it to the quarterfinals if they perform well in the group stage.

INTZ e-Sports

INTZ e-Sports, one of the International Wildcard representatives, has a favorable group. While they are not expected to perform well, they have a chance to surprise everyone and advance from the group stage.

INTZ will need to catch their opponents, H2k-Gaming and ahq e-Sports Club, on off days and have strong performances of their own in order to move forward. While it may not be likely, it is possible.

SK Telecom T1

SK Telecom T1, the defending world champions, could potentially face some challenges in their group. Their weakness in the jungle position could be exploited by other teams. While they are still a strong team, they are not invincible.

The ROX Tigers, the favored team going into Worlds, has a mental block when it comes to playing against SKT. SKT may not be as dominant as everyone thinks they are.

G2 Esports

G2 Esports, the top team in Europe, could struggle on the international stage due to their lack of experience. The pressure of playing at Worlds could affect their performance.

G2 also has difficulty playing around their top lane, which could be a problem when facing strong top laners from other teams. While they are expected to advance from their group, they could potentially crash out of the tournament.
