Former world champion Edgar and Drinker join coaching staff of new LCK team

hyFresh Blade Makes Changes Ahead of 2021 LCK Season

The newest team in the franchised League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK), hyFresh Blade, owned by Brion Company, has made its first coaching changes for the upcoming season, according to South Korean media outlet Fomos. Head coach BanBazi has been replaced by Choi “Edgar” Woo-beom, while coach Kite has been replaced by Lee “Drinker” Seung-hoo.

A Well-Known Coach Joins hyFresh Blade

Edgar, a well-known coach in the League of Legends competitive scene, is no stranger to success. He led Samsung White and Samsung Galaxy to world titles in 2014 and 2017, respectively. He also coached the South Korean official team to a runner-up finish at the 2016 World Championship. Edgar has worked with top-tier players such as Faker, CoreJJ, and Ruler.

Reunited with Coach Drinker

Edgar will be joined by coach Drinker on hyFresh Blade. The two previously worked together on Gen.G during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, with Drinker serving as the team’s manager. After coaching in Latin America, Drinker is returning to the South Korean competitive scene for the 2021 season.

hyFresh Blade’s Roster Overhaul

As hyFresh Blade transitions from the Challengers Korea to the LCK with the new franchising format, the coaching staff change is just the first step in the team’s roster overhaul for the upcoming season. It remains uncertain if the players from the 2020 Challengers Korea roster will remain on the team for 2021. However, with the addition of a world-class head coach like Edgar, expectations for hyFresh Blade are rising among LCK fans.
