Former Team Imagine coach succeeds in lawsuit, orders NRG owner to submit documents

NRG eSports Founder Ordered to Release Financial Information in Lawsuit

The New York Supreme Court has ordered NRG eSports founder Gerard Kelly to provide financial information as part of a lawsuit against Kelly and his former associate Martin Shkreli.

Lawsuit Over Unpaid Salary

Rohit “CurryshotGG” Nathani is suing Kelly, Shkreli, and their former organization, Maelstrom Gaming, for $25,000 in unpaid salary. Nathani claims that he was not fully compensated for his time coaching Maelstrom-owned Team Imagine.

According to CurryshotGG, he was only paid $5,000 out of the $30,000 he was owed. The payment was made from Shkreli’s personal PayPal account.

Shkreli’s Involvement and Legal Troubles

Martin Shkreli gained notoriety for raising the price of an anti-HIV drug and is currently facing charges of securities fraud. Shkreli was also connected to another esports team, Ex Nihilo, and was accused in February of owing $75,000 to former coaches, analysts, and players from both teams.

Motion for Discovery and Response from Kelly

Kelly responded to the lawsuit in March, stating that he lacked the information to address more than half of the claims. However, the court has now ordered Kelly to produce the requested information within 30 days.

A preliminary compliance conference is scheduled for October 18, where all three parties will be present.
