Former SBENU Mid Laner Joins Team Dragon Knights as Substitute

Team Dragon Knights Acquires New Mid Laner for Upcoming Challenger Split

After facing a ban from competitive play, Team Dragon Knights was in need of a replacement for their mid laner. The team has now filled this gap with a young Korean League of Legends prospect.

The North American Challenger Series team, Team Dragon Knights, has acquired Lee “do it” Chan-ho from the former SBENU Sonicboom to fill the mid lane for the upcoming Challenger split. This is a temporary solution until the return of Noh “Ninja” Geon-woo on March 11th, who was suspended by Riot Games for alleged tampering. The team plans to retain both players and will make a decision on who will start after Noh’s return.

Team Dragon Knights co-owner Alan Hubbard expressed his excitement about adding do it to the team, stating that he is a solid mid-laner who can compete in the NACS.

Unlike most teams in North America, the Dragon Knights specifically looked for a Korean-speaking mid-laner to maximize their shot-calling capabilities. The team’s entire roster is fluent in Korean. “It was important for us to find a Korean speaking mid-laner to maximize our shotcalling capabilities,” Hubbard said.

Previously, Noh Geon-woo was fulfilling this role. However, he is suspended for much of the Challenger season due to alleged tampering with another team’s player while the Dragon Knights were bootcamping in Korea.

With Noh Geon-woo unavailable, Team Dragon Knights will rely on the relatively untested Lee Chan-ho to carry them through the early portion of the Challenger Series. Chan-ho only played two games for Sonicboom during the Summer season.

In addition to acquiring Chan-ho, Team Dragon Knights also renewed the contracts of top laner Shin “Seraph” Woo-yeong, jungler Kevin “Kez” Jeon, and mid laner Noh Geon-woo. The team is still in the process of finalizing contracts for a new AD carry and support.

Looking ahead, the Dragon Knights are expected to be one of the most competitive teams in the NACS. They will face tough competition from Ember, who purchased Cloud9 Tempest’s spot, as well as Team Imagine and Enemy. The Challenger Series schedule has yet to be released, but play is anticipated to begin in February.
