Former Riot Games Employee Accuses Former League Shoutcaster Joe Miller of Alleged Sexual Assault

Former Riot Employee Accuses Ex-Shoutcaster of Sexual Assault

Yesterday, Criss Fowler, a former employee at Riot Games, revealed that she was sexually assaulted by a former League of Legends shoutcaster in Europe. After initially hesitating to name her alleged assaulter, Fowler identified him as Joe Miller.

Fowler claims that multiple witnesses can corroborate the events of Miller’s alleged assault, which took place in 2014. Other women in the esports industry have also reached out to Fowler to share similar stories. To support her accusation, Fowler has provided several screengrabs as evidence.

Fowler stated, “3 other women in esports/gaming have DM’d me to say he was inappropriate to them too, and I feel responsible for them.”

Furthermore, Fowler shared that she learned her experience “wasn’t a one-time drunk thing,” and she believes it to be a pattern of predatory behavior.

The screengrabs provided by Fowler show Miller asking if she is “staying faithful” to her partner and questioning if their relationship “still counts on different continents.”

Another woman has come forward, claiming to have had “very similar encounters” with Miller around the same time. Her account can be found here.

From 2013 to 2014, Miller worked as a shoutcaster for Riot in Europe. He currently holds the position of head of talent at ESL. As of now, he has not addressed the allegations made against him.

Fowler’s accusation is just one of many that have recently emerged in the esports and gaming industry. Women are bravely speaking out about their experiences with sexual assault and harassment, leading to a #MeToo moment within the community.
