Former player allegedly holds Turkish Challenger team’s spot for ransom

Beşiktaş Black Eagles Academy Denied Opportunity to Play in Turkish Challenger League

The Beşiktaş Black Eagles Academy team, now known as Idiot Blumi, was set to compete in the Turkish Challenger League against Season 5 Crew this week. However, their chances were dashed when a former player and manager demanded money in exchange for allowing them to participate.

Change in Team Composition Leads to Conflict

The issues began when the team decided to change its AD carry role, which was previously occupied by Ozan “Honos” Aydoğdu. Although Aydoğdu was the team captain, the players believed that it was in their best interest to bring in a replacement for the upcoming tournament. Aydoğdu remained as a substitute and acted as the official point of contact.

Threats and Demands

Just 48 hours before the match, Aydoğdu allegedly threatened to forfeit the game unless he was compensated for his involvement. He demanded €20,000 or else he would inform Riot that the players did not want to play. He even added his colleagues to the official roster, stating that they would play instead of the original players if the demands were not met.

Power Struggle and Frustration

Marcus “Blumigan” Blom, the team’s jungler, explained the situation. He revealed that Aydoğdu had registered the team and became the owner, a fact that the players were unaware of. They believed that the majority of the team owned the spot, not the individual who registered it. In desperation, Blom contacted Riot Turkey staff members, but they were unable to help. Blom then reached out to Riot’s Esports Coordinator, J.T. “Tiza” Vandenbree, who offered little support.

Roster Changes and Missed Opportunity

In the end, Aydoğdu offered to forego the €20,000 if the team recognized him as the owner and president. When they rejected his offer, Aydoğdu removed them from the roster and replaced them with his friends. As a result, Blom and his teammates will not get the chance to participate in the Challenger tournament.

This unfortunate turn of events has caused the original team to go their separate ways, with some members receiving offers from other teams. Blom believed that their team had the potential to succeed, but now he will never know.

This situation serves as a lesson, especially in regions like this, where there are individuals who will exploit players for personal gain. Sadly, it seems that the rules allow them to get away with it.
