Former LCS champion Ssumday becomes a free agent following a short reunion with 100 Thieves

Free Agency Shakes Up LCS as Ssumday’s Contract Expires

The upcoming 2024 season of the LCS is already experiencing major changes in the free agency market. Long-standing player Ssumday is now evaluating his options after the announcement that his contract with 100 Thieves will soon expire. The top laner, who played a crucial role in the organization’s success, including an LCS Championship victory, is now seeking a new team to compete with.

Ssumday’s Impressive Career and Impact in the LCS

Ssumday is one of the longest-tenured players in professional League of Legends, having played for various teams internationally in both the LCK and LCS over the past decade. After achieving strong results and even making a World Championship appearance with KT Rolster, Ssumday joined the LCS and became synonymous with the accomplishments of 100 Thieves. His unique strategy as a strong-side top laner, along with his synergy with jungler Closer, set him apart from other players in the league.

Surprising Departures and Internal Restructuring

Last year, 100 Thieves shocked fans by announcing that Ssumday would not be returning to their LCS roster for the 2023 Spring Split. He subsequently joined Evil Geniuses, but the team experienced further changes and failed to win the Spring Playoffs. Now, Ssumday finds himself once again parting ways with the organization. These moves come as both 100 Thieves and Evil Geniuses undergo internal restructuring, which has resulted in layoffs and raised concerns about the work environment within the organizations.

Looking Ahead to the 2024 LCS Season

The 2024 LCS season is set to begin early next year, but in the meantime, fans can enjoy the ongoing League World Championship. The tournament will soon culminate in the grand finals on November 19.
