Former Afreeca Freecs Coach Zefa Joins SK Telecom T1

SK Telecom T1 Strengthens 2019 LCK Roster with Addition of Coach Zefa

SK Telecom T1 has made another significant move to improve its 2019 LCK team by bringing onboard former Afreeca Freecs coach Lee “Zefa” Jae-min, as announced earlier today. Zefa is the second coach to join SKT this season, following the signing of Kim “Fly” Sang-chul, who previously coached Jin Air Green Wings. Zefa spent the 2018 season as part of Afreeca’s coaching staff, working under head coach Choi “iloveoov” Yeon-sung.

Zefa’s Successes in 2018

In 2018, Zefa achieved remarkable success. He played a crucial role in helping Afreeca reach the 2018 LCK Spring Split finals and qualify for the 2018 World Championships, both of which were first-time accomplishments for the organization. Zefa was also chosen as one of the two coaches to lead Team Korea in the 2018 Asian Games.

Changes in SKT Coaching Staff

The signing of Zefa and Fly comes after the departure of SKT’s former coaches Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong and Lee “PoohManDu” Jeong-hyeon. While PoohManDu is currently seeking coaching opportunities elsewhere, Bengi has left to fulfill his mandatory military service.

Revamping the SKT Roster in 2019

Zefa, Fly, and renowned head coach Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun will lead a completely revamped SKT roster in 2019. In November, SKT signed six new players, including former KINGZONE DragonX top laner Kim “Khan” Dong-ha and former KT Rolster support Cho “Mata” Se-hyeong.

These changes come in the wake of SKT’s disappointing 2018 season, which saw them finish seventh and fail to qualify for the playoffs, their worst placement in the organization’s history.
