Fantastic news for League of Legends fans at the World Championship 2022! Even though Fnatic’s substitute AD carry Bean didn’t get to play in any of the team’s games, he left his mark on the tournament by reaching the top rank on the North American Champions Queue server before leaving the continent.

Teams can only bring one substitute player to the group stage of Worlds, so Bean had to leave Fnatic’s roster for the rest of the season. The team decided to bring their substitute support, Rhuckz, as the sole permitted sub to New York.

Before leaving North America, Bean achieved the top rank in Champions Queue with a total of 2,146 LP. However, he didn’t have the opportunity to play on the Champions Queue server on his last night there, and Maryville University’s mid laner APA has since claimed the top spot.

At last year’s World Championship, Bean made history by debuting on the Worlds stage due to the absence of starting ADC Upset. Although it seemed like Bean might play again this year when Upset tested positive for COVID-19 before the event, Upset recovered fully and played throughout the play-in stage.

Fnatic’s starting support Hylissang was temporarily replaced by Rhuckz for the first two games of the play-in stage, and Rhuckz achieved a perfect 22.0 KDA in two victories. While it’s unlikely that Rhuckz will play in another game at Worlds, he remains an option for Fnatic going forward.

Bean, who played for Fnatic TQ in the Superliga this season, will return to Europe to prepare for the 2023 League season.

Fnatic will make their return to the Worlds stage on Friday, Oct. 7 for their first group stage game against Cloud9 from North America.
