Fnatic defeats Rogue in LEC Summer Split playoffs, secures spot at Worlds 2020

Fnatic Sweeps Rogue in LEC Summer Split, Secures World Championship Spot

Fnatic, the legendary LEC team, left fans wondering about their future after a lackluster performance this split. With a 9-9 record, their playoff prospects seemed bleak. However, in a surprising turn of events, Fnatic swept Rogue in the first round of the 2020 LEC Summer Split, securing their spot in this year’s World Championship.

Game 1: Fnatic Shows Dominance

Oskar “Selfmade” Boderek’s performance on Evelynn set the tone for the series. With a textbook counter gank in the top lane, he secured a double kill at five minutes. Fnatic’s bottom lane also contributed with a two-vs-two kill. This early advantage led to a convincing 25-minute victory for Fnatic.

Game 2: Rogue Falters

Rogue showed more aggression in the second game, focusing on their bot lane with the Kalista and Blitzcrank duo. Although they managed to get two kills in lane, Rogue failed to capitalize on this advantage and allowed Fnatic to secure major objectives. Fnatic emerged victorious once again, taking the match and extending their lead in the series.

Game 3: Fnatic Completes the Sweep

Rogue’s inability to control objectives haunted them in the final game. A double kill for Fnatic’s AD Carry, Martin “Rekkles” Larsson, early in the game left Rogue powerless. Despite a standout performance by top laner Finn Wiestål on Gangplank, Fnatic secured a clean 3-0 victory. This win not only earned them a spot at Worlds but also pushed Rogue into the losers bracket of the LEC playoffs.

Selfmade was awarded the Player of the Series for his exceptional carry performances, highlighting his improvement from the regular season.

While Rogue has already secured their place at Worlds, they now need to ensure they don’t have to go through the play-in stage. They will face the winner of MAD Lions vs Schalke 04 for a chance to make it to the LEC Summer finals.
