Fnatic crushes G2 Esports in LEC’s Match of the Week, extends win streak to 5 games

Fnatic Extends Winning Streak with Victory over G2 Esports in LEC Match of the Week

Fnatic defeated G2 Esports in the LEC’s match of the week, securing their fifth consecutive win in the 2021 Summer Split. After a rough start, Fnatic’s performance has improved significantly.

During the offseason, there were concerns about Fnatic’s future due to Bwipo’s role swap to the jungle. In the initial matches, Fnatic struggled to secure wins against Misfits Gaming and MAD Lions. However, after defeating Rogue in their third match, the team found their stride. They are currently on a three-week winning streak.

In today’s match, rookie top laner Adam was awarded the MVP vote for his outstanding performance on Renekton. His pick was a response to Wunder’s Viego and proved to be highly effective during the laning phase. With multiple solo kills, Adam became an impenetrable wall for G2.

From the draft phase, it was evident that Fnatic had an advantage over G2. G2 opted for a snowballing composition that relied primarily on physical damage, with Rumble being the only reliable source of magic damage. Fnatic strategically picked Taric to complement their scaling composition, making it easy for them to handle G2 unless they fell behind.

G2 made several aggressive plays throughout the match, utilizing Mikyx’s Pantheon pick to secure vision and deny it from Fnatic. However, once Fnatic started grouping up, they dominated team fights and secured objectives. With the Baron buff in their hands, they broke through G2’s defenses and secured the victory.

Fnatic (5-2) has two easy matches next week against Schalke 04 and SK Gaming, who currently sit in ninth and tenth place in the standings. G2 (4-3), on the other hand, had a disappointing weekend with two losses attributed to poor drafting. They will have an opportunity to redeem themselves next week against the current leader in the standings, Misfits.
