FlyQuest secures spot in Worlds after defeating Cloud9 in LCS Summer Split playoffs

FlyQuest Pulls off Upset Victory over Cloud9 in LCS Summer Split Playoffs

In a surprising turn of events, FlyQuest secured a 3-1 victory over higher-seeded Cloud9 in the second round of the 2020 LCS Summer Split playoffs.

FlyQuest’s win not only allows them to advance in the playoffs through the winners bracket, but it also earns them a spot in the 2020 League of Legends World Championship, marking a significant milestone for the organization.

FlyQuest dominated game one, setting the pace of the match by relentlessly attacking Cloud9’s jungler, Blaber. Although Cloud9 managed to bounce back with a win in game two, FlyQuest continued to apply pressure on Zven and Blaber, ultimately securing the next two games.

FlyQuest demonstrated absolute control over objectives, securing Dragon Soul, Elder Dragon, and Baron in two different games. This exposed Cloud9’s weaknesses and highlighted the need for them to find solutions moving forward. PowerOfEvil, FlyQuest’s mid laner and MVP candidate, played a central role, exerting great influence over the entire map with champions like Azir and Malzahar.

While this loss is a setback for Cloud9, their playoffs and Worlds dreams are not over. They still have the opportunity to fight their way back through the losers bracket and secure a spot in Worlds.

Don’t miss the second half of round two of the LCS playoffs, as Team Liquid goes head-to-head against Golden Guardians tomorrow, Aug. 21, at 3pm CT.
