Top North American League of Legends Teams Finalize Rosters for 2015 Season

Yesterday, the top teams in the North American League of Legends scene completed their rosters for the upcoming 2015 season. Now, Europe is following suit.

Star Mid Laner Febiven Leaves H2k Gaming to Join Fnatic

Star mid laner Fabian “Febiven” Diepstraten has officially left H2k Gaming, the team that he helped carry through the 2014 challenger season and into the League Championship Series.

Move to Fnatic Confirmed

On December 23, a Daily Dot report suggested Diepstraten’s move to Fnatic. H2k management confirmed this six days ago, when manager Richard Wells accused Fnatic of attempting to poach their players after Diepstraten’s transfer.

Today, Diepstraten’s departure was made official.

“It was a great experience to play in H2k,” said the player. “I enjoyed playing with everyone on the team and hanging out together outside of the game. But it’s time for me to move on. I am excited to start a new chapter and look for even better opportunities.”

H2k and Fnatic Still Need to Finalize Rosters

H2k and Fnatic are the only teams in the League Championship Series without complete rosters. H2k is reportedly favoring Ryu Sang-ook, a former star mid laner from Korea who joined Millenium before the expansion tournament.

Fnatic is also believed to be recruiting Korean talent. Diepstraten has been seen playing Ranked 5s with Fnatic support Bora “YellOwStaR” Kim and a new roster including Kim “Reign Over” Ui-jin and “Huni,” two players with experience as substitutes on Korean pro teams.

The Uncertainty of the Future

In some ways, this might seem like a downgrade for rising talent Diepstraten. H2k dominated the challenger scene in 2014 and performed exceptionally in the expansion tournament. On the other hand, the new Fnatic team is unproven, and Korean imports have had little success outside of their home country.

But that’s the beauty of League of Legends and esports— the game is played on the server, not on paper. And Diepstraten will still be competing in the server this season, just on the other side.
